4th of July How To

>> Tuesday, June 29, 2010

To make to Ribbon Medallions

1. Cut a strip of wide ribbon about 18 inches long (with or without wire, although I found the kind with wire easier to manipulate)
2. Fold, accordian style and keep pressed with your fingers.

3. Using needle and thread, make one stitch through the accordian (leaving about an inch of thread at either end)

4. fan out the ribbon to make a full circle, then press flat

5. Cut coordinating ribbon (or two) for the medallion tails, and stitch or glue to back side
6. I like the rustic look, so I frayed the edges by first trimming the wire or edge of the ribbon, then using a needle to pull out threads about 1/8" in.

6. Adhere round (or two, with one scalloped) to front
7. Glue brooch-style pin to back or onto a long skewer to use as centerpiece decorations.

Download Round Templates HERE!  They'd also make cute cupcake toppers or adhere to strips of scrap paper for napkin rings.  (Rounds are 2")
