P&C Real Life Parties ~ Under Construction

>> Monday, November 30, 2009

Get ready for a trifecta of printable parties! About a month ago, Kaylee asked if we had any "Tool" themed birthday party collections to go with her son's vision of a "Handy Manny" Birthday. We did have one in the works (if you want yours today, just ask) but not photographed yet. In addition to this birthday, Kaylee was one busy party planner! Here is what she had to say:

****************

My month of cutting.

In the last 31 days I have cut out happily 3 parties. I started with the Halloween party having a pre-trick-or-treat party for our neighbors. Bug cakes and mummy dogs have never looked so cute.

2 weeks later I had a cruise line party for Disney. I snatched up the Sail Away set and added a few Mickey stickers. All I had to add was plates, cups and silverware and some velum paper to the banner. In using the food picks I didn't need to explain that "those are shrimp burgers" all night and was able to enjoy the party.

Then just yesterday my son turned 3. He loves Handy Manny. My husband and I did not like the party set that featured Manny in the stores. We wanted Manny to look like a guest not the center of attention. Abigail and Kira so nicely designed a tool set for us to use.

I cut out paper tools for the felt tool belts I made out of 8x11 pieces of felt and ribbon. The tool belts were stuffed with a few Handy Manny party items and went with a construction hat all bought from Oriental Trading. The hamburger slide made the perfect marker holder. The kids got a kick out of choosing which paper sleeve they wanted on the drink cup.

They played and colored then ate toolbox cake (complete with cut out tools but from a Disney website). My husband and I got what we wanted, Manny was only on the napkins and on one large balloon which made it look like he was a guest. And the best thing was I did this all at home behind the computer, no running around to 6 different stores!!!

****************

Thanks for sharing Kaylee - you really outdid yourself!

free samples! oh, and with a little advertising on top

Kira's gorgeous floral arrangements made from succulents in her own backyard!

About a week ago, Kira and I were asked to show one of our printable birthday parties at a local indoor play and art studio for kids. Located here in Long Beach, Averyboo is a fantastic space for kids to be creative - whether they play dress up, use building blocks or paint till their hearts content. Natalie, the owner, wanted our help in showcasing Averyboo as the perfect (and all inclusive) spot for Birthday Parties.

We went in armed with lots of free mini cupcakes, fabulous floral arrangements, our "press kit" (showcasing all of our collections) and mini brochures to take home. The party we chose to set up was our French Circus birthday (or baby shower) because it is gender neutral and matched the studio perfectly! Kira had the brilliant idea to use painted pvc pipe, topped with fabric covered styrofoam balls to hold the pennant banner. We also designed some matching "flags" to top the display and to add to the floral arrangements.

P&C Real Life Parties ~ Trick or Treat Halloween

>> Monday, November 2, 2009

Michelle, of Maddycakes Muse, recently held a Pumpkin Carving party for her daughter using our "Trick or Treat Halloween Party" collection for kids. I am loving all her creative ideas! Especially the edible centerpiece a la Bakerella, and the finger puppet around the fork.

Here is what she had to say...

*****

Tonight was Madison's pumpkin carving party. She had over a few of her friends to carve and paint pumpkins. It was chilly here (it's 65 degrees here but when your used to 90's to 100's- it's freezing!) so we did the carving outside but ate inside. I decided to set up the kids table in the kitchen - that way we could turn the television towards them and they could eat and watch Charlie Brown's The Great Pumpkin. (my childhood Halloween favorite)

Here is the kids table. I have blogged about printables in the past. This is my first time actually using them- I LOVE THEM!!! I'm hooked!! These printables are from Paper and Cake. It was so easy- I picked out a design, paid (only $8) and they sent pdf file right away! Once you get file -all you do is download, print and create great stuff!

I wanted the centerpiece to be totally edible. So here is my version of marshmallow pops and brownie pops! I'm no Bakerella but the kids loved them. By the way, if you don't know about Bakerella check her out- she is simply amazing! I just stuck the lollipops in Styrofoam and covered with Harvest mix candy corn. I got Franky (the bucket) on sale at Michael's for $2.49.

The printables came with so many files for things to do. The candy wrappers and circles on tables and the finger puppet (which I used to put the fork through) are some of the things I got from Paper and Cake. I got the favor bag from $ Tree (3 for $) filled with candy. The placemat is scrapbook paper that I got in a pack from Big Lots for $5. Big Lots has lots of scrapbook items at a discount.
Here are my cupcakes with printables which included the wrappers, circles and menu cards. Aren't they adorable! How about them mummy dogs!! If I would just learn Photoshop- I could edit out the TV!!
Close up of my cupcakes- yes I made them. (Remember I'm not much of a baker) I love the printables, cute huh??? It was so easy to customize and tie in all the decor this way!
A close up of my masterpiece.
A close up of my daughter's masterpiece.
I think hers is the best though!! smile
Happy Halloween!!

Thanks Michelle... That was one memorable party!

P&C Real Life Parties ~ Damask Halloween

>> Sunday, November 1, 2009

Kara, over at Kara's Party Ideas, throws one fabulous party after the next. Her latest - a Halloween dinner party using our "Damask Halloween" Party collection. I am wondering, how can I get on her guest list?

Here is what she had to say...

*****

I hosted my chic halloween dinner last week! I had a 'black damask' theme along with the obvious color palette of orange and black. I also added accents of shimmer and chandeliers.

I found the perfect elegant black demask printable party pack on paper and cake {place cards, napkin rings, cupcake toppers, etc}!

the dessert table...

the cute cupcake toppers {again, paper & cake}...

I made this chocolate pistachio ganache cake {recipe found in celebrate magazine..it's the cake that's on the front cover}. it turned out really good & tasty!..

I added masks to the little figures on the cookies...

the oreo's were rolled in orange and black sprinkles..

I put orange jones in a black cauldron filled with ice...

I set monster energy drinks out {in the "khaos" flavor that matched the black and orange theme perfectly}. the crow on top was inspired by hostess with the mostess..

I topped the glasses with orange sparkle gel icing and added spider rings to the bottoms...

I love this black shimmery candelabra...

inspired by amy atlas, licorice wheels were hung above the dessert table...

another pic of my shimmery skeleton...

and last but not least, the party favors were cute little boxes {paper & cake} filled with candy corn and/or my homemade caramel apples...

*****
This outstanding party has also been featured on HWTM. Thanks Kara - for all your inspiration and super creative party ideas!
